TESTIMONIALS

"I endorse Team Nicole because I believe they come with leadership skills that are best suited to meet this moment. I have been impressed with their demonstrable commitment and hands-on work in service to DAUK. Over the last few years, Nicole, John, Caroline, and Monica have eagerly stepped up, and also taken the time to learn what is necessary to run this complex organization of skilled volunteers at this significant time in DAUK's development. Between them, they have played crucial roles in the day-to-day administration of DAUK, expanded our membership by locating and engaging volunteers in regions outside of London, found new ways to keep existing members engaged, spear-headed phone banking, and raised funds that facilitated outreach to Democrats Abroad members during the 2020 election cycle. I have faith in their capabilities and look forward to working with them."

"Nicole has been an effective leader in her recent term as Secretary. She formed relationships across DAUK, including improving our reach to members across the UK, and with other leaders globally. Nicole has chosen a great team in John, Caroline, and Monica to build on this foundation.

I've been particularly impressed with their ability to run well-organised and dynamic virtual events, such as the creative Independence Day Picnic in July 2020, and their efforts to diversify DAUK's fundraising strategy, such the Call the World campaign.

This slate clearly has a strategy that will serve Democrats Abroad UK well as we move out of Covid restrictions and return to in person events, continuing to grow and support our chapters and regional groups from the Executive Committee, and maintaining relationships with the global leadership as new DPCA officers are elected in May."

Flora Strange, Council member, former Executive Committee member (2015-2017) and former Young Professionals Network Chair

"Individually, these four candidates are remarkable; collectively, they are formidable. I’ve seen this team work together to deal with our most pressing problems. With their experience, values, and vision, they are the future of DAUK.

Their experience is awe-inspiring. As Oxford Chapter Chair, Nicole engaged both students and long-term residents, increasing membership by 50%. As Chair of Scotland, our most geographically diverse chapter, Caroline pioneered the successful use of online meetings and set up two Global Presidential Primaries in 2020.

They recognize that grass-roots organizing matters. Nicole and Caroline, in partnership with DAUK leaders, launched a project that identified regional organizers, giving them consistent support and advice. Exciting new leaders and ideas have emerged from an unprecedented seven regional groups.

They know the infrastructure and resources. They understand the potential of Nationbuilder and other online tools in GOTV. The fundraising experience of Monica and John, road-tested in the the Call the World project, will ensure our work is properly supported.

Their deep understanding of DAUK’s mission will take us forward to victory in the 2022 midterms.

Nicole, John, Caroline, and Monica have my confidence and my vote. I recommend that you give them your vote as well."

Inge Kjemtrup, DAUK Chair

Nicole is a great unity candidate, someone who has the capacity to bring Democrats together.  For one thing, she has always supported the policies we see so strikingly foregrounded in President Biden’s American Rescue Plan.  Just consider the $3,600 per child over one year beginning July 1 or the $5 billion for Black farmers, a kind of miniature reparation. This bill shows a new commitment to the America our government should really be serving.  This new politics, this reawakening of our party, is the sort of politics that have always been Nicole’s. These considerations make her for me the best candidate.

On a personal note, having watched it up close, her conduct of the Oxford primaries last spring was of notable rectitude, dauntingly impartial.  This experience leads me to believe that all DAUK members can feel assured that Nicole would manage things with utmost fairness.  Finally, having been part of DAUK one way or another since the primary in ’84, and seen lots of good people running the show, I was surprised how excited I was when first introduced on Zoom to the whole of Team Nicole.  I think DAUK would be lucky to have this crowd leading the way.

When I started as the DAUK Field Organizer in September, I took over a team of dedicated and experienced phonebankers that Nicole Satullo had trained and supported. This was DAUK’s first campaign conducted entirely virtually and Nicole kicked it off, starting phonebanking in April. She and Caroline Ruchonnet also spearheaded the formation of seven regional groups across the UK, growing the membership. Join me in voting for inclusive and visionary leadership: Nicole Satullo for Chair, John Lindsay for Vice Chair, Caroline Ruchonnet for Secretary, and Monica Tanouye for Treasurer.

Gabe Frankel, DAUK 2020 Field Organizer

We have a wealth of talented, passionate people in DAUK who have contributed to our goals. The fact that these four leaders stand out in this crowd makes them even more remarkable.

Nicole impressed me in the way she organised and delivered a tremendously successful global primary for more than 400 members, with the challenge of a media surge fuelled by a celebrity voter. Her planning anticipated every potential problem, with a solution and a named volunteer trained and ready.

When the world suddenly shifted to Zoom, Nicole not only got us operating effectively online but used this new tool to recruit and engage Americans around the UK in a way they had not been before. This was all after stepping into the secretary’s role mid-term, under extraordinary circumstances, in the middle of an intense election year.  She has succeed with a vibrant attitude and infectious enthusiasm.

This is a team that really complements each other. John’s deep knowledge of Congressional actions and aims is well demonstrated. As a DAUK spokesperson he thinks fast on his feet and adapts seamlessly to opposition tactics during TV and radio interviews. He counters false narratives with blunt facts in a style that’s appealing and convincing.

Caroline and Monica have day jobs (in forensic anthropology and international fundraising) that seem highly complex, sophisticated and demanding.  Yet they offer their time with passion and deliver with an efficiency that is helping to propel our volunteer organisation forward with speed.

I’m proud to support this group!

John Scardino, DPCA Voting Representative, Member of the Press Team

As a new member to DAUK, I felt welcomed and appreciated by the members of Team Nicole. Their enthusiasm has made me proud of being a Democrat by reminding me of why politics matter. Politics matter because people matter. While expertise, education, and policy knowledge is wonderful, in the end I want be part of the Democrats Abroad to ensure that people get the opportunities and resources they need to succeed. Team Nicole has expertise and  knowledge but more importantly they have thoughtfulness and compassion. Voting for Nicole’s slate will ensure that we have teamwork at the top that is willing to listen and learn from members while safeguarding the values that we hold dear.

I’m writing to share my experience with Nicole Satullo and Caroline Ruchonnet in my role as a regional organizer. When the idea of organizing regional groups first came up, and David Wenk and Nicole asked for volunteers, several people put their hands up. We all had reservations, as we had no idea what we were getting into, since most of us had no knowledge of the DAUK organizational structure or how we’d fit in. David, Nicole, and Caroline met with us multiple times over several months to help us figure out how to organize, spent time with us individually to create successful plans for our particular area, and even attended our early meetings to get us off to a good start. Honestly I didn’t really know how David or Nicole or Caroline personally fit into the DAUK organization, but with all their support I couldn’t help but feel DAUK was invested in our success.

Because Nicole and Caroline have experience running chapters, their advice and support was always both valuable and welcome. I always felt they understood where I was coming from with my questions and concerns, and that they would do almost anything to see our groups find success. Once we were up and running, Caroline’s creativity and thoughtfulness around running events was incredibly helpful to help us keep going past the election. Which is all to say, Nicole and Caroline have proven both their dedication and ability to build and grow the regional group structure.

Karen Suhaka, West Midlands Group Co-Organizer

As a new addition to the DAUK community, Nicole and Caroline have been completely invaluable to me. They offered me so much support in setting up a regional group in Brighton in an incredibly short space of time. They inspired me to set high goals and then worked incredibly hard with me to ensure those goals were met. They are experienced, knowledgeable, their communication is excellent, and above all their passion for DAUK always shines through. They have both always gone above and beyond to ensure that everything we do at DAUK is done to the highest of standards. If something can be done, you can be sure that Caroline and Nicole will get it done effectively, efficiently and with genuine passion for US citizens living in the UK.
